Kupang, klikinfopol.com. 1 November 2026 – Governor of East Nusa Tenggara Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena chaired the preparation meeting for Tour de EnTeTe 2026 at the Governor’s Official Residence of NTT. The event forms part of the 68th‑anniversary celebrations for the Province of East Nusa Tenggara, whose main commemoration falls on 20 December 2026, featuring a refreshed concept combining walking, running, social activities and community economic empowerment across all major islands of NTT.

Unlike previous editions closely associated with cycling, Tour de EnTeTe 2026 adopts a cross‑island route covering Timor, Sumba, Flores, Sabu, Rote, Lembata and Alor. The event is scheduled to run for roughly one month from the first week of November to early December 2026, with each island hosting a roughly 15‑kilometre stage, culminating in a final 10‑kilometre run.

Governor Melki emphasised the programme is far more than a sporting competition. “We walk and run while doing good. There will be many activities that energise the grassroots‑level economy across every regency in NTT,” he stated.

Organisers have also moved away from the old model of centralised events based in regency capitals, shifting activities to locations that deliver tangible benefits for local residents. Every stage will include tree‑planting, support for local micro‑, small‑ and medium‑sized enterprises, social‑assistance distribution and integrated public‑service outreach across government agencies. Community members are positioned not merely as spectators, but as the primary beneficiaries of the initiative.

More than twenty regional government bodies attended the preparation meeting, including the Office of Youth and Sports, the Office of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Office of Environment and Forestry, the Office of Agriculture, the Office of Health, the Office of Industry and Trade, and the Administrative Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of NTT.

Through Tour de EnTeTe 2026, the Provincial Government of NTT frames the 68th‑anniversary milestone as a collective movement that unites sport, social care, environmental conservation, regional‑potential promotion and grassroots‑economic development. The event is expected to extend the reach of development benefits down to villages and remote communities across East Nusa Tenggara.(*)
